One Dead, Two Injured in Traffic Crash on Jefferson Street near Highway 78
OCEANSIDE, CA (October 21, 2021) — A 60-year-old motorist died in a traffic accident on Jefferson Street on Tuesday, October 19.
The collision happened just before 2:30 p.m. when the driver of a southbound 2006 Lexus ran a red light at Jefferson Avenue and Highway 78 at high speed. The impact sent the car crashing into a 2000 Toyota 4Runner and then a light pole.
According to Sgt. Rick Davis, the driver of the Lexus died at the scene.
The two people of the SUV had minor injuries that did not hospitalization.
Davis said they have not yet determined if alcohol or drugs contributed to the incident.
Officials continue to investigate the crash.
