7-Year-Old Girl Hurt in Bicycle Crash on Jones Street
SANTA MARIA, CA (October 12, 2021) — A 7-year-old girl suffered injuries in a bicycle accident on Jones Street at South Pine Street Monday morning.
According to the Santa Maria Police, the bicycle crash happened around 7:30 am. Under unclear circumstances, a driver in a large truck struck the little girl who was riding a bike. Soon after, paramedics responded and transported the child to Marian Regional Medical Center. As of now, reports say her condition is improving. Although, matters would have been worse had the child neglected to wear her helmet.
Following the accident, the driver stayed at the scene. However, police have not confirmed the liabilities of the crash. At this time, police plan to look into the conditions at the time, especially the vehicle that had been illegally parked on the corner that may have obstructed the driver’s view, as well as the angle of the sun.
Because an accident can happen to anyone at any time, you should be mindful of the current conditions of the road. Pay attention to others around you and only cross the street when the roads are clear. By doing this, you can maximize your safety.
