78-Year-Old Man Dies after Struck by Passing Driver on 905 Freeway in San Ysidro
SAN YSIDRO, CA (October 31, 2021) – A man was killed in a pedestrian accident on 905 Freeway near 5 Freeway in San Ysidro Saturday morning.
The accident happened just before 7:00 a.m. on October 30. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 78-year-old San Diego man was driving a Chevrolet truck towing a small fishing boat when it broke. He got out of his vehicle and attempted to fix the issue.
The driver of a Honda CRV did not see the truck until it was too late, slamming into the back of the fishing boat/trailer.
The impact pushed the boat and trailer into the truck driver, badly hurting him. Paramedics tried to save him, but he died at the scene. He was not yet identified.
Meanwhile, the Honda driver was unhurt.
Neither driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash.
An investigation into this crash is underway.
We would like to express our sincere condolences to the bereaved family and friends of the victim.
