Carlos Garcia Hit, Killed in Fresno Pedestrian Accident
FRESNO, CA (October 7, 2021) — A man suffered critical injuries and later died after a pedestrian accident on Griffith Way and Blackstone Avenue Friday night.
57-year-old Carlos Garcia of Fresno was hit by a car near the intersection, according to the Fresno County Coroner’s Office.
According to Fresno police, the pedestrian accident happened around 10:15 p.m. Police believe that Garcia was struck while riding his bicycle across the road. Fresno police Lt. Paul Cervantes said he was outside of the crosswalk and going against a red light when he was struck. The driver had a green light.
Soon after, paramedics arrived to perform life-saving efforts on Garcia. He was transported to a hospital, where he died a day later.
The driver remained at the scene and was cooperative with police. However, drugs and alcohol were not a factor in the collision.
At this time, the accident requires further investigation. However, any witnesses who can help the authorities should contact the department.
