16-Year-Old Daniel Ramirez Killed, Guadalupe Ramirez Hospitalized, Logan Morais Uninjured in Fiery Car, Big Rig Crash at Singley Road and Singley Hill Road
LOLETA, CA (March 8, 2024) — Daniel Ramirez died in a fiery car accident involving a big rig at Singley Road and Singley Hill Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly two-vehicle accident happened around 7:51 p.m. on March 5. Under unclear circumstances, a 2001 Nissan Frontier and a 2017 Freightliner semi-truck crashed near Loleta. Subsequently, the Nissan caught fire, trapping two people inside.
Soon after, a Good Samaritan assisted 20-year-old Logan Morais of McKinleyville— the Freightliner driver— with rescuing 65-year-old Guadalupe Ramirez of Fortuna from the fiery Nissan. However, 16-year-old Daniel Ramirez of Fortuna was unable to escape the blaze and died in the crash.
Following the accident, traffic investigators determined that seating positions and weather factored into the cause. However, a deeper dive into the accident should confirm more details.
