Multi-Vehicle Accident on 5 Freeway in Tehama County Injures Four People
TEHAMA COUNTY, CA (March 16, 2024) – Four people were injured in a two-vehicle accident on 5 Freeway in Tehama County Wednesday morning on March 13.
The accident happened around 10:20 a.m. near the Hooker Creek off-ramp. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2017 Chevrolet Equinox was traveling northbound on the freeway when it hit a 2023 Ram pickup that was also heading northbound. The impact caused the Ram to veer left and enter the center median.
After hitting the Ram, the Equinox traveled right hitting a guardrail. It then crossed lanes back to the left and hit a 2024 Ford Transit van that was traveling northbound.
A southbound 2023 Cadillac Escalade was hit by debris that the Ram kicked up when it entered the center median.
As a result of the crash, four people suffered unspecified injuries.
Paramedics only took one person to a local area hospital for a pre-existing injury, which was not related to this crash.
The cause of the crash and factors involved are still under investigation.
