Tracey Gross Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash on Highway 76 [Oceanside, CA]

Mother of 2 Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver while Riding Bicycle in Oceanside

 
OCEANSIDE, CA (March 23, 2024) – Tracey Gross died in a hit-and-run crash in Oceanside late Sunday evening on March 17.
 
The fatal crash happened on Highway 76 at Singh Way. According to the Oceanside Police Department, Gross was riding her bicycle home when she was hit by a car.
 
The driver of the car did not stop after the crash, dragging her bicycle two miles down the highway.
 
Gross suffered critical injuries and was declared brain dead this week. She was an organ donor.
 
On Friday, surgeons at Scripps Green Hospital in La Jolla planned to remove her heart, lungs and other organs so they can be given to others, her family said.
 
Gross was a mother of two adult children. She worked as a postal carrier the past 10 years.

At this time, the hit-and-run suspect remains at large. Police believe the driver may live in the neighborhood, where the crash occurred and was driving a silver 2013 or 2015 Kia Optima.

Police also believe the car will have damage to its right front bumper and right headlight and will be missing parts to the bottom engine cover.
