1 Killed in Rollover Accident on 5 Freeway near Laguna Boulevard [Sacramento, CA]

Fatal Rollover Crash on 5 Freeway in Sacramento

 
SACRAMENTO, CA (April 8, 2024) — One person died in a rollover accident on the 5 Freeway near Laguna Boulevard on Sunday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol South Sacramento Division, the multi-car crash happened around 4:00 a.m. For possible speed-related reasons, a driver lost control and struck two other cars. Subsequently, one of the vehicles overturned several times leaving debris strewn across the southbound highway.
 
Soon after, paramedics responded and found a female driver dead and her male passenger with major injuries. Authorities did not release the woman’s name at the time of the report.
 
Following the crash, emergency crews responded to tend to the overturned vehicle, and authorities closed the road until 8:00 a.m.
 
Police believe high speed factored into the cause but have not confirmed if DUI played a part.
