BELL GARDENS, CA (April 9, 2024) — Janet Young died in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident on Gage Avenue near Chalet Drive.
 
According to Bell Gardens Police officers, the fatal hit-and-run happened on April 4 around 8:00 p.m. For an unknown reason, a driver struck 62-year-old Young while she was in a marked crosswalk after buying food from a taco stand. Subsequently, the motorist failed to identify him or herself and left the scene. Soon after, the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded and found Young who died later at the crash site.
 
Now, the family and friends of Young, who had six children and six grandchildren, are mourning this loss. They created a GoFundMe page to help raise awareness.
 
At this time, authorities do not have information on the driver or vehicle involved but will refer to the surveillance footage for clues. If anyone has information on what led to this fatal accident, please call the Bell Gardens Police.
