22-Year-Old Man on Motorcycle Suffers Open Fractures after Crash with Vehicle on Grand Avenue in Pacific Beach
PACIFIC BEACH, CA (July 23, 2024) – A motorcyclist was injured after being hit by a vehicle on Grand Avenue in Pacific Beach Sunday evening on July 21.
The crash happened around 8:33 p.m. at Kendall Street. According to the San Diego Police Department, a 22-year-old man was riding his 2007 Suzuki bike eastbound on Grand Avenue in heavy traffic. He entered the bicycle lane passing stopped traffic on Kendall Street.
A 33-year-old man was driving a 2020 Jeep Cherokee westbound on Grand Avenue and started a southbound turn onto Kendal Avenue. He then broadsided the motorcycle.
As a result of the crash, the motorcyclist sustained an open fracture of the left shinbone and calf bone.
The driver of the Cherokee, a 33-year-old man, was unharmed.
It was unknown if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. Police asked anyone with further information to contact the unit or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
