Bicyclist Killed in Hit-and-Run Caused by Wrong-Way Driver on Alameda Street near Broadway

 
SOUTH LOS ANGELES, CA (August 30, 2024) – A bicyclist was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver on Alameda Street, early Wednesday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on August 28, at about 1:00 a.m. As per reports, a wrong-way driver hit the victim, a man in his 30s on a BMX bicycle, in the 7900 block of Alameda Street near Broadway.
 
Emergency crews pronounced the bicyclist dead at the scene. Authorities withheld the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
 
The driver of the vehicle immediately left the area and failed to render aid.
 
Investigators did not release a description of the suspect vehicle.
 
CHP continues to investigate the fatal collision.
