Rancho Peñasquitos Pedestrian Accident at Rumex Lane Leaves 2 Women Hospitalized

 
RANCHO PENASQUITOS, CA (September 13, 2024) — Two pedestrians hit by a car at Rumex Lane and Park Village Road sustained major injuries.
 
According to the San Diego Police Department, the pedestrian accident happened Wednesday evening. For an unknown reason, an 18-year-old woman in a 2015 Honda Fit did not see two women in their 60s in a crosswalk. Subsequently, her Honda struck the pair walking north to south.
 
Soon after, the driver pulled over and waited for the authorities. Upon responding, paramedics rushed one woman to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, including multiple brain bleeds and a skull fracture. Her companion sustained a minor brain bleed and a right humerus fracture.
 
Following the accident, authorities interviewed the uninjured driver, who they believe was unimpaired.
