Man Dies after Struck by Passing Car on Highway 84 in Fremont
FREMONT, CA (October 8, 2024) – A man was hit and killed by a car on Highway 84 in Fremont Sunday morning on October 6.
The fatal crash happened around 5:41 a.m. just east of Paseo Padre Parkway. According to the California Highway Patrol, the victim had stopped his Tesla and got out of his car. He then walked to the center divider area and was throwing objects at vehicles when a passing Dodge Challenger struck him.
The impact caused the victim fatal injuries and he died at the scene. His identity was not immediately available.
Meanwhile, the driver of the Dodge reportedly fled the scene after the crash.
Officers said the involved driver did not realize what had happened until he drove home and reviewed his dashboard camera footage. After watching the footage, the suspect contacted the CHP.
The CHP is still trying to determine why the victim had stopped his vehicle and was on the roadway throwing objects.
