Raymundo Rangel Booked, Jessica Ferrino Killed in DUI Pedestrian Crash at Wagner Avenue and Rio Vista Street

 
ANAHEIM, CA (October 14, 2024) — Officers booked Raymundo Rangel into jail following a fatal DUI high-speed pedestrian accident at Wagner Avenue and Rio Vista Street.
 
According to the Anaheim Fire Department, the deadly pedestrian crash happened around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. While impaired, 33-year-old Raymundo Rangel lost control of his Mercedes at a 90-degree turn. Subsequently, his vehicle left the road, drove through a green belt and crashed into the Santa Ana Riverbed at speeds over 40 miles per hour.
 
Soon after, Anaheim Police responded and investigated the crash. During the investigation, a man uninvolved in the accident informed officers that his wife left for a walk near the riverbed but never returned. After scouring the area, officers found her body one hour later.
 
Jessica Ferrino, a 49-year-old instructional aide who worked at Rio Vista Elementary School, passed away in the accident.
 
At this time, Rangel, who has a criminal record, faces charges including gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
