Driver Dies in Head-On Collision near Monte Road in Monterey County
MONTEREY COUNTY, CA (November 5, 2024) — A man died in a head-on accident near Monte Road and Neponset Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the two-vehicle crash happened around 2:07 p.m. Monday. For unknown reasons, a driver of a northbound red pickup entered the southbound lane and collided head-on with a southbound white pickup. Subsequently, the red pickup continued Northwest, plowing into a guardrail and traveling off the bridge into the Salinas River.
Minutes later, CHP officers arrived at the scene, but the driver of the red pickup passed away shortly after. Authorities described him as a 32-year-old from Lockwood. Due to the investigation, authorities closed the road in both directions.
