1 Person Dies in a Pedestrian Accident on Highway 78 in Escondido

 
ESCONDIDO, CA (November 26, 2024) — A pedestrian hit by a car on Highway 78 near Centre City Parkway died Sunday evening.
 
California Highway Patrol officers responded to reports about a vehicle hitting a pedestrian at 9:22 p.m. Upon dispatch, authorities learned that a driver struck the pedestrian near the Interstate 15 interchange. Subsequently, police officers arrived to investigate. Minutes into the investigation, authorities diverted traffic from Highway 78 East to Centre City Parkway.
 
Tragically, the victim whose name authorities did not release died in the crash. Police have yet to confirm the precise cause of this crash. Therefore, if anyone has seen this accident and could help traffic investigators, contact the CHP.
