75-Year-Old Woman Dies after Struck by Vehicle in Long Beach

 
LONG BEACH, CA (December 16, 2024) – Elvira Cuellar was struck and killed by a vehicle in Long Beach Friday afternoon on December 13.
 
The fatal crash happened around 4:00 p.m. at East Greenleaf Boulevard and Long Beach Boulevard, just north of the 91 Freeway. According to the Long Beach Police Department, Cuellar was walking at the intersection when she fell in a marked crosswalk.
 
A 2009 Chevrolet HHR made a left turn from East Greenleaf to go south on Long Beach Boulevard when it struck Cuellar in the intersection.
 
The impact caused Cuellar fatal injuries and she died at the scene. She was 75-year-old Compton resident.
 
The driver remained on scene and cooperated with police.
 
Speed, distracted driving and impaired driving did not appear to have contributed to the crash. Further investigation is underway.
