Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Car on Highway 50 near 15th Street
SACRAMENTO, CA (January 21, 2025) – Richard Allen Ray was hit and killed by a car in Sacramento Sunday evening on January 19.
The fatal crash happened around 10:00 p.m. on Highway 50, just west of 15th Street. According to the California Highway Patrol, a red Kia Forte that was traveling at approximately 65 mph when it struck Kia along the eastbound lanes of the highway.
As a result, Ray suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. He was 36 years old.
The female driver of the Kia told officers that she observed something in the road just ahead of her car and was unsure what it was. She had no time to swerve or stop to avoid the crash.
Neither alcohol nor drugs are considered factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
