77-Year-Old Man Dies after Struck by Car Long Beach

 
LONG BEACH, CA (March 4, 2025) – Carleton Carlson was hit and killed by a car in Long Beach Friday evening on February 21.
 
The fatal crash happened around 7:25 p.m. at the intersection of Palo Verde Avenue and Atherton Street. According to the Long Beach Police Department, Carlson was walking east on Palo Verde when a Toyota Camry struck him.
 
The impact caused him critical injuries. He was rushed to a hospital, where he later died. He was a 77-year-old Long Beach resident.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the Camry stopped and cooperated with police.
 
Neither speed nor reckless driving were suspected in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
