Bicyclist Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver in Fountain Valley

 
FOUNTAIN VALLEY, CA (May 19, 2024) – Antonio Huerta was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Fountain Valley Sunday morning on May 12.
 
The fatal crash happened around 07:06 a.m. at the intersection of Slater Avenue and Santa Maria Street. According to the Fountain Valley Police Department, Huerta was riding his bike when an eastbound vehicle veered into the bicycle lane and struck him.
 
After the crash, the driver of the vehicle fled the scene without rendering aid.
 
Responding paramedics responded rushed Huerta to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
 
Huerta was 52 years old from Huntington Beach.
 
At this time, the hit-and-run suspect remains at large.
 
FVPD Investigators are requesting anyone with information that could lead to the identification of the vehicle and driver to contact the FVPD Traffic Bureau at 714-593-4481. Incident #24-14620.
