Man Killed in Wrong-Way Accident on Highway 101 near Blossom Hill Road [San Jose, CA]

Wrong-Way Driver Dies after Crash with Big Rig on Highway 101 in San Jose

 
SAN JOSE, CA (May 26, 2024) – A man was killed in a wrong-way accident on Highway 101 in San Jose Friday morning on May 24.
 
The fatal accident happened around 11:15 a.m. along the southbound Highway 101, just north of Blossom Hill Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, the man was driving a Honda sedan and entered the highway from Blossom Hill Road. For unknown reasons, he drove north in the southbound lanes and collided into a big rig.
 
The impact ejected the man from his vehicle and he died at the scene. He was a 22-year-old San Jose resident.
 
Meanwhile, a 43-year-old big-rig driver was unharmed, but the big-rig spilled diesel fuel as a result of the crash. Some entered the dirt center divider though emergency crews were able to contain it.
 
It was unknown if drugs or alcohol played a factor in this crash, which is under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call CHP at 408-961-0900.
