Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Vehicle on Highway 94 near Homeless Emcampment in San Diego

 
SAN DIEGO, CA (May 27, 2024) – A pedestrian was hit and killed by a vehicle on Highway 94 just east of downtown San Diego early Saturday morning on May 25.
 
The fatal crash happened around 5:00 a.m. at the on-ramp to northbound 5 Freeway. According to the California Highway Patrol, a vehicle struck the pedestrian along the westbound Highway 94 near a homeless encampment.
 
After the initial crash, several other cars may have also struck the pedestrian.
 
The victim, whose identity was not immediately available, was pronounced dead at the scene.
 
The drivers involved in the crash stopped and cooperated with authorities.
 
At this time, it is unknown whether alcohol or drug played a factor in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
