Two Cars Collide Head-On on Shore Road in San Benito County Killing One Driver
SAN BENITO COUNTY, CA (June 20, 2024) – A man was killed in a head-on accident on Shore Road in San Benito County early Wednesday morning on June 19.
The fatal accident happened around 3:55 a.m. just east of Lake Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, the victim was driving a 1999 Toyota Camry east on Shore Road at an unknown speed. At the same time, a 67-year-old Hollister man was driving a 2020 Hyundai Accent west on Shore Road at approximately 55 mph.
For unknown reasons, the Camry crossed the double yellow lines into the westbound lane in front of the Hyundai, and the vehicles collided head-on.
Responding paramedics rushed the driver of the Camry to Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital, but the victim died while on transit.
Authorities only identified the victim as a 20-year-old Los Banos resident. He was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Meanwhile, the driver of the Hyundai suffered minor injuries and was taken to Natividad Medical Center.
Drugs and alcohol were not factors in the crash. An investigation is ongoing.
