Juan Suarez Arrested in DUI Crash on Main Street [Hesperia, CA]

Deputies Arrest DUI Driver with Drunk Teen in His Car

 
HESPERIA, CA (July 12, 2024) – Juan Carrera Suarez was arrested in a DUI crash in Hesperia Tuesday afternoon on July 9.
 
The crash happened around 3:30 p.m. in the 157000 block of Main Street. According to the Hesperia Police Department, they received a report of a man holding a weapon in a parking lot.
 
Upon arrival, they saw a teen get into the man’s vehicle. When they approached the 33-year-old driver, they told him to drop the weapon and get out of the car. But Suarez threw the car into reverse, slammed into a patrol car and then took off.
 
Deputies chased him for about 10 miles before Suarez got out of the car with the weapon, then dropped the weapon and got back in the car and took off again.
 
Eventually, Suarez stopped. Deputies determined he and his 16-year-old passenger were under the influence.
 
Deputies released the teen to his parents. They arrested Suarez on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon of a police officer, child abuse, evading a police officer, driving the wrong way, and DUI.
 
When deputies booked Suarez, they discovered that he had an outstanding warrant for a separate DUI.

It was unclear how Suarez and the teen knew each other.
