Teen Fatally Injured in Bicycle Accident on Claribel Road and Roselle Avenue
MODESTO, CA (February 18, 2021) — A 14-year-old Modesto girl died in a bicycle accident on Claribel Road on Wednesday, February 17.
The accident happened at around 2:30 a.m., on Claribel Road west of Roselle Avenue.
According to Modesto police, the girl’s family filed a runaway/missing-persons report at about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday. Her family has no idea she died. Her identity was not yet available.
The driver of the Mazda sedan that hit the girl remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. There is no indication that alcohol or drugs played a role in the incident.
Investigators are searching for a teenager who saw the crash but left the scene after deputies responded to the area.
Officials continue to determine the circumstances that led to the crash. They closed Claribel between Roselle and Squire Wells Way during the investigation.
