Fatal Pedestrian Accident on Bay Bridge in San Francisco
SAN FRANCISCO, CA (February 18, 2021) – Police confirmed that one person died in a pedestrian accident on Bay Bridge on February 16.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near 5th Street at approximately 11:18 PM.
Initially, officers responded to calls of a pedestrian walking on the Bryant Street onramp toward the lower level of the highway. Based on a report, the man then walked in the right-hand eastbound lanes of traffic on the bridge near 5th Street. Subsequently, at least one vehicle struck him. Several vehicles pulled over while investigators said at least one vehicle fled the scene.
As a result, the pedestrian died in the incident. Officials withheld the victim’s identity until his next-of-kin is notified.
Officers examined security cameras to gather information on this fatal pedestrian accident on Bay Bridge. At this point, an investigation is still ongoing.
