2 Injured in Fiery Car Accident in Vallejo
VALLEJO, CA (January 18, 2021)—Two people suffered minor to life-threatening injuries in Saturday’s fiery car accident on Highway 37 near Highway 29.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fiery car crash happened around 4:00 p.m.
For unknown reasons, a 1998 Chevrolet Corvette carrying two people crashed into a concrete barrier on Highway 37. Shortly after, the car burst into flames, critically injuring the 34-year-old male driver from Fairfield and causing minor injuries to the passenger.
According to CHP-Solano, the Corvette was traveling about 120 miles per hour before the driver lost control of the vehicle.
While interviewing witnesses, CHP learned that the Corvette driver crashed while racing a possible purple Dodge Charger.
Since information remains unclear, detectives plan to investigate this accident more closely and encourage witnesses with information to come forward.
Car accidents can happen in a split second. Many of them happen due to speeding, drunk driving and distracted driving. Avoid all three and keep your eyes on the road and your seat belt on. The law highly discourages street racing, which also maximizes the risks of a car accident.
