Crash at Valparaiso and Altschul Avenues Injures 3 Teens in Menlo Park
MENLO PARK, CA (January 18, 2021) — Three teens sustained injuries in a rollover crash at Valparaiso and Altschul avenues Saturday afternoon.
According to the authorities, the incident happened at about 12:58 p.m. near the foot of Sharon Hills Park. They said the area is a significantly steep section of road that slightly winds about with some pedestrian traffic at times.
Preliminary findings showed that the teens were traveling in an SUV that had been coming down the hill when it hit a light pole and then overturned.
The crash ejected one of the occupants from the SUV. It also left the other two teens trapped inside the vehicle which ended up upside-down.
After stabilizing the vehicle, firefighters safely extricated the trapped individuals using the Jaws of Life. Paramedics subsequently transported all three patients with major injuries to Stanford Hospital.
When behind the wheel, safety should always be your top priority. Do not multitask and keep your attention on driving at all times. Never drive impaired and do not forget to buckle up for safety. In addition, always drive at safe speeds. Driving too fast for conditions increases the risk of a fatal accident.
