Fatal Broadside Accident Reported on Espola Road in Poway
POWAY, CA (February 15, 2021) – A father and his teenage son died in a broadside accident in the 15000 block of Espola Road on February 12.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at Poway High School at approximately 7:00 PM.
Based on a report, the two victims were in a Toyota sedan and pulling out of the north parking lot of the school. Due to unknown reasons, a teenager driving a Mercedes sedan broadsided their car.
As a result, the 54-year-old man died at the scene. Emergency crews sent his son to Rady Children’s Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Officials did not yet release their names. The 19-year old driver of the Mercedes suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Crews transported him to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido.
At this point, the San Diego County Sheriff‘s Department is still investigating this broadside accident on Espola Road. Thus, no other details are available.
