Motorcyclist Evades CHP Officer and Dies in Crash near Hidden Meadows
HIDDEN MEADOWS, CA (February 26, 2021) – Authorities identified the motorcyclist who died in an accident Monday afternoon near Hidden Meadows.
The accident happened just after 1:00 p.m. on 15 Freeway north of Deer Springs Road.
According to the CHP, 20-year-old Hardesty Brandon Scott of Oceanside was riding a 2008 Kawasaki motorcycle at a high rate of speed. Scott and a Mazda sedan were racing when a CHP officer attempted to stop the vehicles. Scott sped off, prompting a brief pursuit.
The officer lost sight of the motorcycle as it accelerated and pulled away at high speed.
Moments later, Scott slammed into the back of a Toyota Camry and hit the guardrail, throwing him onto the ground.
The pursuing CHP officer rendered medical aid to the gravely injured rider. Responding paramedics then rushed Scott to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido, where he later died.
