Luis Bermudez Dead after Electric Bike Accident on Grand Avenue
SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, CA (February 15, 2021) — A 55-year-old man identified as Luis Bermudez died in an e-bike crash on Saturday, February 9.
At about 3:37 a.m. February, officers received a report of someone lying on the road with an electric bicycle. Officers rushed to the 600 block of Grand Avenue and found the victim. They administered life-saving treatment and paramedics arrived shortly but Bermudez died at the scene.
Investigators believe Bermudez rode the bike west. Then he struck a parked vehicle, and the impact ejected him to the ground. Police said that he wore a novelty helmet with no padding in it.
Authorities said that there were no other vehicles involved in the incident. They added that alcohol may have played a role in the crash.
