Street Racing Leads to Fatal Motorcycle Accident on 15 Freeway in Escondido
ESCONDIDO, CA (February 22, 2021) – A man died in a motorcycle accident on 15 Freeway on February 22.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at Deer Springs Road shortly after 1:00 PM.
Based on a report, the victim had been racing the driver of a car on the northbound side of the freeway. Then, he refused to yield to an officer who tried to pull him over near the intersection. Subsequently, a brief pursuit happened. It ended when the man crashed his 2008 Kawasaki into the back of a northbound Toyota Camry and a center-median guardrail.
As a result, the man died in the incident. Paramedics initially took him to Palomar Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries. Officials did not release his name pending family notification.
At this point, officials are still investigating this motorcycle accident on 15 Freeway. In addition, no other details are available.
