Fatal Hit-and-Run on 101 Freeway near Whittier Boulevard in Downtown Los Angeles
DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES, CA (February 23, 2021) – A man died in a suspected hit-and-run crash on 101 Freeway, Tuesday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 6:45 a.m. Due to unknown circumstances, a man sustained major injuries on the northbound side of the freeway at Whittier Boulevard.
Emergency crews later pronounced the man dead at the scene. Authorities did not release the name and age of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
Responders issued a Sig-Alert on the northbound 101 Freeway. As per reports, one lane remained blocked until 8:35 a.m. to make way for an investigation.
CHP continues to investigate the circumstances that led to the fatal hit-and-run. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
