Two-Vehicle Accident on Santa Ana Freeway Leaves 1 Dead and Sends Another to Hospital
SANTA ANA, CA (July 31, 2021) – One person was killed in a two-vehicle accident on Santa Ana (5) Freeway in Santa Ana early Saturday morning.
The accident happened around 3:20 a.m. on July 31, along the southbound freeway at 17th Street. According to the California Highway Patrol, a Honda Pilot and possibly a Mitsubishi collided for unknown reasons.
As a result, one person suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. Coroner’s officials withheld the victim’s identity pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, paramedics rushed at least one person to Orange County Global Medical Center with unspecified injuries.
All traffic lanes at the site of the crash were re-opened at 5:58 a.m.
CHP officials are still investigating the crash to determine the cause and liability.
