High-Speeding Accident on Santa Ana Freeway in East LA Kills Child and Seriously Injures Three
EAST LOS ANGELES, CA (August 15, 2021) – A 10-year-old boy died in a high-speed accident on the Santa Ana (5) Freeway early Sunday morning.
The accident happened around 2:20 a.m. on August 15, along the northbound lanes of the freeway at Indiana Street. According to the California Highway Patrol, a gray 2004 Honda Accord carrying four people was speeding northbound on the freeway when it failed to negotiate a curved road and crashed into a concrete sound wall.
As a result, the 10-year-old child suffered severe injuries and died at the hospital.
The driver and two passengers, a 20-year-old man and a 7-year-old boy, suffered major injuries. Paramedics rushed the adults to Los Angeles County/USC Medical Center. The children were taken to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.
Police arrested the 29-year-old woman who was driving the car. They said speed and alcohol may have been contributing factors in the crash.
Further investigation is underway.
