Jacob Meisel Hit and Killed by Train near Palo Alto Avenue [Palo Alto, CA]

Man Dies after Struck by Caltrain near Palo Alto Avenue and Alma Street

 
PALO ALTO, CA (August 15, 2021) – Jacob Aaron Meisel was hit and killed by a Caltrain earlier this month in Palo Alto.
 
The fatal incident happened around 10:22 p.m. on August 2, near Palo Alto Avenue and Alma Street. Sheriff’s deputies said the 23-year-old victim from Stanford was trespassing on the tracks when a southbound train No. 192 struck him.
 
Meisel suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene, according to the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office. He was pursuing his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering when he died.
 
After the crash, crews closed the Palo Alto Avenue grade crossing.
 
The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the fatality.
