Lois Sipe Dies after Car Crashes Her Motorcycle Head-On in Oakdale
OAKDALE, CA (August 12, 2021) – Lois Sipe was killed in a motorcycle accident on Highway 120 near Oakdale Wednesday evening.
The fatal accident happened a little before 10:00 p.m. on August 11, just west of Valley Home Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, 65-year-old Trisha Lewis of Jamestown was driving a 2012 Toyota Prius eastbound at 55 mph behind a pickup truck towing a trailer. Sipe, a 61-year-old Oakdale resident, was riding her Kawasaki Vulcan motorcycle westbound at an unknown speed.
Trying to pass the pickup, Lewis pulled into the westbound lane, directly into the path of Sipe. The two collided head-on, ejecting Sipe from her bike. The Prius spun out of control and overturned.
As a result, Sipe suffered major injuries and died at the scene. She was wearing a helmet.
Lewis escaped injury. She was wearing her lap and shoulder safety restraint system.
Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor, the CHP said. Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to call the CHP Modesto Area office at 209-545-7440.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Lois Sipe.
