Rider Dies after Crash with Sedan on Capitol Expressway in San Jose
SAN JOSE, CA (August 12, 2021) – A motorcyclist died in a traffic accident on Capitol Expressway in San Jose late Wednesday evening.
The accident happened around 11:41 p.m. at the expressway’s intersection with Senter Road. According to the San Jose Police Department, a 2007 Toyota Corolla was traveling east when it struck the man riding a 2007 Yamaha R6 motorcycle south on Senter Road.
The rider was traveling at a high rate of speed and ran a red light before the crash, police said. He died at the scene.
The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office withheld the victim’s identity pending next of kin notification.
The driver of the Corolla remained on scene. Police said there was no immediate evidence that the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Police asked anyone with information to contact Detective Eliseo Malvido with the SJPD traffic investigations unit at 408-277-4654.
