18-Year-Old Pioneer Man Dies in Fiery Crash on Shakeridge Road
AMADOR COUNTY, CA (August 3, 2021) – A teen driver died in a fiery accident on Shakeridge Road near Pioneer.
The accident happened on Monday, August 2, just west of Evergreen Way. According to the Amador County Sheriff’s Office, the teen was driving a Chevrolet eastbound on Shakeridge Road at a high rate of speed, while evading a sheriff’s vehicle, displaying lights and siren.
The teen then allowed the Chevrolet to leave the roadway and entered the soft dirt shoulder. At the same time, a Toyota was heading westbound on Shakeridge Road approaching the Chevrolet.
The driver of the Toyota observed the Chevrolet re-enter the roadway and proceed into the westbound lane, directly into the path of his car. He veered to the left to avoid a head-on collision. As the Chevrolet continued out of control, unknown debris flew from the car and struck the Toyota. The Chevrolet subsequently collided into a tree and caught fire.
As a result, the driver of the Chevrolet died at the scene. Authorities only described him as an 18-year-old Pioneer resident.
Neither the ACSO Deputy nor the Toyota driver sustained injuries in the crash.
This fatal crash remains under investigation.
