Bicyclist Dies in Fairfield Hit-and-Run Crash, DUI Suspect Nadhir Ghuzi Arrested
FAIRFIELD, CA (October 23, 2021) – A bicyclist died and police arrested Nadhir Ghuzi after a DUI hit-and-run in Fairfield Tuesday evening.
The fatal crash happened around 7:00 p.m. on October 19, near the intersection of North Texas Street and Wisconsin Street. According to the Fairfield Police Department, the bicyclist was riding in the area when a vehicle struck him.
After the crash, the driver of vehicle then fled the scene without rendering aid. Witnesses were able to provide authorities with a description and the direction of where the vehicle went.
The bicyclist died at the scene. He was a 53-year-old Fairfield resident.
Police tracked down the vehicle to a business it stopped at before the crash. Investigators then reviewed surveillance video at the business and were able to identify the driver.
With an arrest warrant in hand, police arrested Nadhir Ghuzi of Fairfield on suspicion of multiple charges, including homicide and DUI.
An investigation into this fatality is ongoing.
