Man Dies in Pedestrian Accident on Pacific Coast Highway
LONG BEACH, CA (October 7, 2021) — A man died in a pedestrian crash on Pacific Coast Highway near Lewis Avenue Wednesday morning.
According to Long Beach Police, the deadly pedestrian accident happened around 5:51 a.m. Under unclear circumstances, a 24-year-old Signal Hill man driving eastbound in a Honda Pilot struck a male pedestrian crossing outside of a marked crosswalk.
Subsequently, Long Beach Police and Fire Department personnel arrived at the scene to confirm that the pedestrian had died.
At this time, the victim’s identity and the liabilities of the crash require additional investigation. However, officers do not believe the Honda driver was impaired, speeding or distracted prior to the impact.
