SUV Catches Fire in Fatal Accident on West Road in Redwood Valley
REDWOOD VALLEY, CA (October 20, 2021) – Police confirmed that one person died in a fiery car accident on West Road on October 18.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at Zahadoon Way shortly after 11:00 PM.
Based on an initial report, a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee was traveling eastbound on West Road prior to the crash. Due to unknown reasons, the driver lost control and the SUV hit a tree. Subsequently, the vehicle caught fire and burst into flames.
As a result, the driver of the vehicle died in the incident. Officials did not yet release the victim’s identity. The passenger suffered major injuries including a possible broken leg.
Immediately, the crew from the Redwood Valley-Calpella Volunteer Fire Department arrived and extinguished the fire.
At this point, an investigation into the case is ongoing.
