Woman Hurt in 5 Freeway Crash in Carlsbad Last Month Dies in Hospital
CARLSBAD, CA (October 11, 2021) – Rosa Clarke died in a two-vehicle accident in Carlsbad late last month.
The accident happened on September 27, on 5 Freeway at La Costa Avenue. According to the CHP, the 61-year-old woman from San Juan Capistrano was driving southbound on the freeway when she lost control on the off-ramp and struck traffic barrels. Her car then spun around and hit a pickup truck.
When authorities arrived, Clarke told them she had chest pains. Paramedics transported her to Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, where she died Saturday when she did not elicit signs of a neurological recovery, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.
At this time, no other information was available. It is also unclear if speed, drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
An investigation is underway.
Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Rosa Clarke.
