Motorcyclist Alejandro Vasquez Dies after Colliding with Vehicle in Long Beach
LONG BEACH, CA (October 28, 2021) – A man died in a motorcycle accident on Cherry Avenue in Long Beach on Sunday afternoon.
Authorities identified 25-year-old Alejandro Vasquez of Long Beach, who died at the scene of the crash.
The crash happened around 4:40 p.m. on October 24 in the 3800 block of Cherry Avenue. According to the Long Beach Police Department, police learned a black Nissan Rogue being driven by a 55-year-old male resident of Long Beach was traveling northbound on Cherry Avenue and making a westbound turn onto Bixby Road.
As the Nissan turned, Vasquez – riding a Suzuki motorcycle – traveled southbound on the west service road of Cherry Avenue. However, he failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with the Nissan.
The Nissan driver did not sustain any injuries. In addition, the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. His name was not released.
Neither distracted driving nor impaired driving were believed to be a factor in the collision. However, further investigation is underway.
