Bicyclist Fatally Struck by Truck at Senter Road and East Capitol Expressway [San Jose, CA]

Truck Fatally Strikes Bicyclist on Senter Road in San Jose

 
SAN JOSE, CA (May 7, 2024) – A bicyclist was fatally struck by a truck at Senter Road and East Capitol Expressway in San Jose on Tuesday morning.
 
The fatal crash happened around 7:30 a.m. on March 7, just in front of Andrew Hill High School. According to the San Jose Police Department, the driver of a red truck was heading west on Capitol Expressway when he ran a red light at the intersection. He then struck the bicyclist and a white truck, which were both traveling northbound.
 
After the crash, the driver of the red truck attempted to run, but police were able to track him down and arrested him.
 
The bicyclist suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. They were not yet identified.
 
The driver of the white truck sustained non-life threatening injuries.
 
At this time, it is unknown if drugs or alcohol was a factor in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
