Bicyclist Dies after Struck by Van on Tully Road in San Jose
SAN JOSE, CA (July 2024) – A woman was killed in a bicycle accident on Tully Road in San Jose Thursday night on July 25.
The fatal accident happened around 6:26 p.m. at La Ragione Avenue, just east of Senter Road. According to the San Jose Police Department, a 2018 Ford Transit van was going westbound on Tully Road when it swerved to avoid hitting one bicyclist.
The male driver of the van then struck the woman who was also riding her bicycle nearby.
At the time, both bicyclists were crossing Tully Road outside of a crosswalk, authorities said.
Responding paramedics rushed the woman to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner’s Office withheld the victim’s identity pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, the driver of the van stayed on scene and cooperated with police.
An investigation into this fatality is ongoing. San Jose police urged anyone with further information to get in touch with them.
