Passenger Dies after Van Crashes into Trailer in El Sobrante, Driver Arrested for DUI
EL SOBRANTE, CA (August 20, 2024 – Donald Cramer was killed in a DUI crash in El Sobrante Thursday afternoon on August 15.
The fatal crash happened around 1:15 p.m. on eastbound Appian Way, just west of La Paloma Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, the driver of a white Chevrolet Astro van was going east on Appian Way and recklessly speeding past other cars as it approached the intersection at La Paloma Road.
The van then sideswiped three vehicles and struck a trailer, that were all parked on the right shoulder. It then ended up on its left side before coming to a stop.
Cramer, a 63-year-old El Sobrante resident, was a passenger in the van. He suffered fatal injuries from the crash and died at the scene.
Meanwhile, the driver of the van sustained minor injuries. They were later arrested on suspicion of DUI.
The CHP is still investigating the fatality. They asked witnesses of the crash to contact them at 320Investigations@chp.ca.gov or 925-646-4980.
