Man Struck Dead by Driver on Highway 101 in Gaviota
GAVIOTA, CA (August 16, 2024) — A man was hit and killed by a passing driver on Highway 101 near Dos Pueblos Canyon.
The fatal accident happened around 12:30 p.m. Thursday. For an unknown reason, a passing motorist struck a man trying to enter a parked vehicle on Highway 101 in Gaviota. Subsequently, the Santa Barbara County Fire Department arrived to assess the situation and the victim. Despite receiving life-saving measures from a cardiologist and two electrical linemen with an automated external defibrillator device, the victim passed away. Officials did not release his name.
Due to the crash, officers closed the No. 2 lane of the southbound highway to finish their investigation.
As for the driver, he or she stayed at the scene and cooperated with police investigators.
