Multi-Vehicle Pileup on 101 Freeway in Encino Sends One Woman to Hospital

 
ENCINO, CA (August 7, 2024) – A woman was hospitalized in a multi-vehicle pileup on 101 Freeway in Encino just after midnight on July 26.
 
The crash happened in the eastbound lanes of the freeway near Hayvenhurst Avenue. According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash involved six or more vehicles. At least one of the vehicles overturned from the impact.
 
A good Samaritan who stopped to help said he almost hit the car involved in the initial crash because there were no flashing lights, making it hard to see ahead of him.
 
The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the scene and transported a woman to the hospital. The extent of her injuries is unknown.
 
It was unknown if drugs or alcohol was a factor. The circumstances of the crash are still under investigation.
 
When driving, be aware of those behind you. Leave plenty of space between your vehicle and those in front and behind you. Increase following distances, maintain designated speeds, and do not drink and drive.
