Car Hits 22-Year-Old Shopper During Police Chase on Fruitvale Avenue in Oakland
OAKLAND, CA (July 31, 2024) – A woman was injured after being hit by a car during a police chase at Fruitvale Avenue and Foothill Boulevard in Oakland Saturday afternoon on July 20.
The crash happened around 1:00 p.m. involving Daly City police chasing a suspect in a gray Lexus.
The victim, a 22-year-old shopper, was stepping out of a store when she was hit by the suspect car. She was shopping on her birthday, according to a store employee. The impact of the crash sent the woman up in the air and she fell on the floor.
An ambulance took the woman to a hospital for treatment of her injuries.
Witnesses saw a man, who appeared to be in his twenties, getting out of the car and running away while another was arrested.
A Daly City Police Department SUV with visible front-end damage was towed away from the scene.
